Descale Coffee Brewer Maintenance

Tassimo Brewers
When the ‘red’ service light appears on your TASSIMO machine it is time to descale!
Step 1
Remove the water tank from your TASSIMO machine and remove the Service T Disc. Insert it in the brewing unit with the barcode face down, and close the clamp down firmly.
Step 2
Fill water tank with 500 ml of water. Add contents of 1 packet (1oz) of Dezcal descaler to water in tank. Replace the water tank containing descaling solution back on the machine.
Step 3
Remove the cup stand and place a suitable container (min 17oz/500ml capacity) under the drink outlet. Press and hold the start/stop button for at least 5 seconds to start the descaling program.
The descaling program takes approximately 20 minutes. The ‘Stand-by icon will light up with the descaling program ends. At this point, Empty the container and replace it under the drink outlet.
Step 4
Rinse the water tank thoroughly and fill to the ‘max’ mark with fresh water. Replace tank back onto your TASSIMO machine. Open and close the brewing unit keeping the Service T Disc in place on the T Disc holder and press the start/stop button. The machine will rinse itself. Once one cycle is complete, press the button again repeating 4 more times. The descaling process is complete.
Keurig Brewers
A Keurig brewer should be descaled every 3 to 6 months or when the ‘De-scale’ light turns on.
Step 1
Fill the brewers Water Reservoir with 48 ounces of fresh water. Add contents of 1 packet (1oz) of Dezcal descaler to Water Reservoir.
Step 2
Place a large mug on the Drip Tray Plate and run a water brew cycle. DO NOT USE A K-Cup, just press the Large Mug Button. Discard the contents of the large mug.
Step 3
Repeat the brew process 3 times. Let Brewer stand for at least 4 hours while still on.
Step 4
Ensure the Water Reservoir is filled with fresh water. Repeat Steps 2 & 3 until Water Reservoir is empty. Rinse and refill tank. You may now make coffee.
Dolce Gusto Brewers
A Dolce Gusto brewer should be descaled every 3 to 6 months or sooner if dispensing is slower than usual, or if beverage is cooler than usual.
Step 1
Fill the brewers Water Reservoir with 34oz (1 litre) of fresh water. Add contents of 1 packet (1oz) of Dezcal descaler to Water Reservoir.
Step 2
Place a large mug or container under the drink outlet. DO NOT USE A Dolce Gusto Capsule. Remove and reinstall brew basket, push locking lever down.
Step 3
Press power button for 5 seconds to enter descaling mode.
Step 4
Move brew lever to the right (hot) for 45 seconds. Move brew lever back to off position for 5 minutes. Empty large mug or container and replace under the drink outlet.
Step 5
Move brew lever to the left (cold) for 45 seconds. Move brew lever back to off position for 5 minutes. Empty large mug or container and replace under the drink outlet.
Step 6
Refill Water Reservoir with 34oz (1 litre) of fresh water ONLY. Repeat Steps 3 and 4. Turn power off. The descaling process has been completed.
Pod Brewers
(Melitta 1:1, My Invento, & Cuisinart Cup O Matic)
Pod brewers should be descaled every 3 to 6 months or sooner if dispensing is slower than usual, or if beverage is cooler than usual.
The following steps for descaling are applicable to the pod brewers mentioned above:
Step 1
Fill the brewers Water Reservoir to just under capacity with fresh water. Add contents of 1 packet (1oz) of Dezcal descaler to Water Reservoir.
Step 2
Turn brewer on and place a large mug or container under the drink outlet. DO NOT USE A Pod, just press the Large Mug Button. Discard the contents of the large mug.
Step 3
Repeat step 2 as many times as it takes to empty tank. Once tank is empty, remove and rinse with fresh water,
Step 4
Ensure the Water Reservoir is filled with fresh water. Repeat Steps 2 & 3 until Water Reservoir is empty. Rinse and refill tank. You may now make coffee.
Bunn My Café
The Bunn My Café brewer should be descaled every 3 months.
Step 1
Fill a clean container with 42oz of fresh water. Add contents of 1 packet (1oz) of Dezcal descaler to water in container.
Step 2
Place a 14oz or larger mug under the drink outlet. DO NOT USE A Coffee Pod. Remove and reinstall brew basket.
Step 4
Open spin lid on top of brewer and pour in 14oz of water with descaler solution. Close spin lid and press brew button. Empty mug and replace under drink outlet.
Step 5
Repeat Step 4 two more times until container of water with descale solution is empty.
Step 6
Rinse and refill container with 42oz of fresh water. Repeat Step 4 until container of fresh water is empty. Your Bunn My Café is ready to make coffee.
